Quite how I forgot to mention this huge project on here, I don’t know. That’s most of last autumn unaccounted for.

Carrier are a high-end holidays company, so they wanted a high fashion feel to permeate the site.

We at LOVE. tried to make a silky-smooth flash site as easy to navigate as your usual information-rich xhtml, with gorgeous full bleed photos, smooth fades aplenty, nice image galleries and easy text scrolling. And it all sits within a browser-height stretchy interface that adapts all text boxes and search results to fit snugly to the footer.

The Flash was built with the Gaia Framework for its built-in templating, SWFAddress, google analytics and so on, which worked like a dream once I’d dug into the forums to “get” Gaia and figured out pulling all the data out of Mark’s enormous backend through CakePHP. So to speak.

Been busy busy on LOVE’s 2008 xmas card thing for couple of weeks and it’s finally all ready and polished. SHHH!TV was a real team effort (you know who you are, etc) and we’re really happy with how it turned out, but it just seemed such a pity to scale down the gorgeous RED One footage to 640 wide for the web. Such is life. One day, maybe.

Please send a gift to everyone you know and care about, just don’t send the Orange Stick to your gran. Depending on your gran, of course. Mine’d probably rather have the Cliff calendar.

Incidentally, the Sky Guide-style menus are meant to be slow and clunky, just like the real thing! It took lots of Timers to get the delays just right as the screens build and the video scales down. Just for the record…

Almost forgot to mention that we were named as New Media Agency of the Year at the 10th Big Chip Awards a couple of weeks back! I was at the bar though, so I didn’t get to shake Terry Christian’s hand. Typical. 

We also got Best Digital Marketing and Brand Development for Dr Martens, our officemates The Neighbourhood took away loads, including the Grand Prix, our mate Matt is the Best Freelancer/Micro-Enterprise and Rich, our front end fella, ate a Big Green Chip all to himself.

Busy night all round then. Don’t know how it slipped my mind. Oh and please excuse the iPhone photo.

Given that the first one was a ridiculous runaway success, LOVE have just let loose from the gate the second stage of the mighty bucking internet bronco that is Dr Marten’s THE BRIEF. Create your own designs for their iconic boots by drawing, painting and spraying on them, adding your own pictures and all sorts of stuff like that. It’s dead good. Here’s my effort. It’s a hoof, in case you can’t tell. Could even be cloven for all I know. Awful design too, but then I should really be working. Hey, here’s an idea – why not have a go yourself?! You can even stick it on your blog, on your facebook and then get it tattooed on your own face if you like, so other people can vote your shitty hoof thing up the tables and you can eventually be some sort of a winner!

[I didn't do the flash, by the way, but it's damn good all the same]
